Escondido AC Repair Company, Excel Air Corp. Celebrates 23 Years of Excellence

For 23 years, Excel Air Corp. is the leader Escondido AC Repair business and serves thousands of customers throughout San Diego County. With the season of California temperatures soaring, we caught up with CEO Alex Kuhtarev to find out what people should know about their AC systems to get the most bang for their buck. We asked him if it is worth repairing an air conditioner and when is it better to replace it. He shared with us what his HVAC technicians tell their Excel Air Corp. customers.

“Installing a new quality air conditioning system is a major investment. If your current device isn’t performing well and you don’t have the resources to buy a new one, it may be more cost-effective to have it repaired,” says Kuhtarev.

According to Kuhtarev, “Energy Star, run by the US Department of Energy and the US Environmental Protection Agency, recommends that your AC unit be replaced every 10 to 15 years. It may not be cost effective to repair an eighty-five year old air conditioning unit. Unless it just requires a simple replacement part like a condenser or something simple like a fan belt, it’s usually cheaper in the long run to completely replace the unit.

You will need to consider your lifestyle and the location of your home, as these factors can influence life expectancy by 10 to 15 years. Temperatures on the water differ from those further inland. This is something to think about when your AC is out of order. If the unit is 10 years old or older, it may be time for an upgrade.

It can be a nightmare when your air conditioner is out of order, especially during the summer heat in the California sun. Some signs that you may need professional repair are unusual smells or noises when the unit is turned on, unexpected drop in performance or high utility bills, hot or decreasing airflow, excessive moisture on or around the unit, or if you notice your circuit breakers tripping often. ”
