We are excited to add Washington, DC to our regular serviceexplained Peter Manice, co-founder of Tailwind Air and director of scheduled services. “Taking into account the full route – one hour and twenty minutes in the air (comparable to the DCA-LGA service, except that it is not necessary to access the crowded and congested airports at both ends) or the three hours fifty minutes for the Acela – Tailwind Air will offer the fastest, least stressful and most premium way to travel between DC and Manhattan. That, coupled with the unforgettable views, makes for a mesmerizing experience.

College Park is a historic, uncongested airport 25 minutes from the Capitol, 18 minutes from Chevy Chase, 25 minutes from Georgetown, and 5 minutes from the University of Maryland. With ample free parking adjacent to the modern terminal, the availability of Uber, Lyft and taxis, and a short walk to frequent subway service from College Park subway station (green line) and MARC station, access at the airport is a breeze.

New York Skyport (NYS) is Manhattan’s dedicated seaplane base. Located at the east end of 23rd Street along the East River, Tailwind Air operates all Manhattan departures from there and has a dedicated air-conditioned lounge for all passengers.

Bypassing congestion in the northeast corridor between New York and Washington, DC remains Tailwind Air’s primary mission. This new DC service complements our existing revolutionary service between Manhattan and Boston Harbor as well as our many summer destinations in the Hamptons and Provincetownsaid Alan Ram, CEO and co-founder of Tailwind Air.

The check-in deadline is just 10 minutes before departure. Tailwind Air takes the hassle and expense out of traveling via a commercial airport, train, ferry or rental car. By taking the guesswork out of check-in, security, airport congestion and driving delays, Tailwind Air reduces stress and delivers memorable, quick solutions on all of our itineraries. Although Tailwind Air’s fleet of turboprop seaplanes is young — less than five years old on average — seaplane travel certainly isn’t. The Manhattan Skyport opened in 1936 and has hosted popular seaplane trips for decades. Additionally, seaplane operations have been part of the staple transportation landscape of cities like Seattle, Miami, and Vancouver for nearly a century.

Tailwind Air operates staffed lounges in Manhattan and Boston Harbor, offering wifi and refreshments. At College Park, travelers have access to a dedicated waiting room, wifi, refreshments and an outdoor terrace for stunning views of the historic airfield.

With the addition of Washington, DC, Tailwind Air now flies to nine destinations from its base in Manhattan. Manhattan destinations are Boston Harbor – Fan Pier Marina (BNH), Washington, DC – College Park (CGS), East Hampton, Sag Harbor, Shelter Island, Montauk, Provincetown, Plymouth and Bridgeport.
